SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
| Affirmative Portfolios realised the acute disadvantages
experienced by previously disadvantage individuals in securing
meaningful employment in the main stream industries of the country
and decided to start on a small scale internship programme whose
main objectives are as follows: |
|
- Acquisition of new skills
- Career development
- Empowerment
- Employment Equity
|
Internally
Under this programme 5 candidates at entry level
are assigned to 6 months mentored training covering all relevant
corporate environment operations, under the supervision of our
experienced consultants, who groom them in line with the expected
delivery levels of our clients.
The interns are also given the opportunitiy to take short-term
assignments with our clients in order to afford them the real
life experience. |
|
These short-term assignments have also proved to be very beneficial
to both our interns and the clients, as most of the interns have
ended up being offered permanent positions within these companies.
These interns also now form part of our resources base for future
assignments.
Externally
This programme entails consultations with our clients in which
they advise us of their needs and we source for the suitable
candidates. The internships are run for periods ranging from
6 – 12 months dependent on the intensity of the programme.
On successful completion of the programme candidates may be
offered permanent positions or are utilized on a temporary basisuntil
such time when a suitable position becomes available. |
|
We currently have an arrangement with Pretoria Social Work Services
where we provide disadvantaged kids with a fun time.
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION POLICY
AA is a planned process and strategy aimed at
transforming the socioeconomic environment in order to create
access to opportunities for the disadvantaged, based on their
suitability, resulting in successful organisation and a growing
economy.
AA is a strategy designed to correct past imbalances and previous
discrimination of B.I.C candidates/disabled in the HR Industry,
particular to Recruitment/Personnel. |
|
| Our goal is the transformation of this culture
into an inclusive and empowering one. One which will create
employment equity, provide access for females, BIC and the disabled
into both the main stream economy and business organisation.
This will lead to a greater diversity and economic empowerment
to these groups. Once such a paradigm shift has occurred then
equal opportunity will prevail in the workplace. It is the business’
policy to recruit from local communities for projects or positions
within their geographical areas, where this does not prejudice
the client. |
|
Benefits of AA
- Broadening of the skills base
- Healthy competition
- Market penetration
- Enrichment
- Motivation
- Legitimacy
